Report card season isn't just for kids.
The annual Fraser Institute report ranking both public and private elementary schools based on academics in British Columbia has been released, and while schools in the Okanagan-Skaha district have failed to top the charts, they aren't at the bottom either.
Of the School District 67 elementary schools ranked in the report, Holy Cross Elementary came out on top, ranked 132 out of 946 schools in the province, and Carmi Elementary was last, ranked 795.
"We take the results with a grain of salt, and sometimes it's good news and sometimes it's not," said School District 67 board chair Bill Bidlake.
The top schools were overwhelmingly private schools.
"Sometimes you're comparing public schools to private schools. Sometimes you're comparing apples to oranges," Bidlake said, adding that he's proud of the educational system in British Columbia.
In the nearby Okanagan-Similkameen school district, the top placer was Tuc-El-Nuit, ranked 315th.
