Store sold banned weapons

A Shuswap business was unknowingly selling prohibited weapons, police say.

Chase RCMP found Cat’s Eyes self-defence keychains being sold at the unnamed store on April 17.

The keychains are similar to brass knuckles in that they can be worn on the fingers, leaving sharp, pointed "ears" poking out that can be used to strike another person.

Both items are prohibited in Canada.

The business quickly and willingly removed the items from its shelves, police say, and no charges were laid in the incident.

Chase RCMP ask anyone who purchased the items to turn them in to police or have them destroyed.

Possession of brass knuckles or similar devices is a criminal offence in Canada.
