A shipment of 100,000 marijuana seedlings arrived at Vancouver International Airport, Thursday, destined for the world's largest cannabis greenhouse in Delta.

The plants were shipped from Ontario on a cargo jet and transferred under heavy security to Canopy Growth's 1.7-million-square-foot greenhouses.

The weed is for medicinal use, but the company is ramping up for legalization, expected later this year.

"We, as leaders in the industry, have a tremendous responsibility to make sure the legalization works and part of that is making sure the supply is on the shelf," spokesperson Hilary Black told CTV.

There are 22 licensed cannabis producers in B.C.
