A water quality advisory has been issued for the entire Sage Mesa water system north of Penticton in response to a jump in turbidity in Okanagan Lake after recent heavy rain.

A water quality advisory is one level below a boil water notice and is used when the threat to public health is modest.

People with weakened immune systems, infants, children, elderly and others in need of additional protection are advised to find a different source of water.

Alternatively, residents can boil water for one minute before using it for drinking, ice making, teeth brushing or cooking.
