Colton Davies

UPDATE: 10:05 p.m.

Water service was restored at 4 p.m. on Friday for the 250 homes in the Heritage Hills community.

A boil water advisory is in effect until further notice for all homes in the area.

UPDATE: 12:15 p.m.

The RDOS has now made sandbags available for residents in areas that have been affected by flooding.

Sandbags have been delivered to the Willowbrook Fire Hall and the Oliver Fire Hall for residents in Oliver and rural Oliver.

In OK Falls, sandbags are at Keogan Park, across from 1512 Cedar Street.

In Naramata, sandbags are available at the Naramata Fire Hall.

The KVR Trail is also closed due to washout from water runoff south of Arawana Road, above Naramata, the RDOS said.

"Please avoid using this trail until further notice, as the extent of damage or risk of further collapse is being assessed at this time," emergency services supervisor Paul Edmonds said in a news release.

UPDATE 10:00 a.m.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen says a pair of Naramata residents were also forced from their home Thursday night due to flooding.

Fire crews around the Valley were dispatched all night to deal with flood assessments, rock falls and landslides.

RDOS Emergency Services Supervisor Brandy Maslowski says they have opened their emergency operation centre at “level one”.

“It means we have a base of staff in place for preventive measures. Between two and five staff engaged at any given time” she said.

The two Naramata residents that were evacuated have been provided with 72 hours of emergency social services support.

ORIGINAL 7:45 a.m.

About 250 homes in the Heritage Hills area of OK Falls are without water after a road washout severed a water main Thursday night.

A culvert on Sunnybrook Drive east of Heritage Boulevard was unable to handle flash flooding during heavy rain, undermining and washing out the roadway.

Argo Road Maintenance, FortisBC and BTN Contracting are on site to deal with the mess.

Domestic water has been diverted so pipes can be fixed. 250 homes in the area on the Lakeshore Waterworks system should have water restored by this afternoon. A boil water notice is in place until then.
