CRA employee threatened

A section of North Surrey was cordoned off Thursday after an employee at the Canada Revenue Agency was threatened at work.

Police responded at about 10:15 a.m. to the area of the CRA office, located at 9755 King George Boulevard. Traffic in the area was blocked off for several hours while officials investigated.

Surrey RCMP said the Explosive Device Unit was called in after a suspicious object was found in a parking garage. It was later determined the object was not a threat to public safety, and it's not yet known if the object is connected to the threat.

The nature of the threat to the staff member is unclear.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP.
