We're not in the Vancouver range – yet – but gas prices in parts of the Okanagan jumped by as much as 10 cents a litre Thursday morning.
The price at some stations in Kelowna has risen to $1.329 a litre and $1.339 in Vernon.
Some stations are still at between $1.229 and $1.249, but are expected to rise soon.
In Vancouver, motorists woke up to record-tying prices at the pumps of $1.559 a litre.
GasBuddy.com spokesman Dan McTeague told CTV Vancouver a number of temporary refinery shutdowns plus word the Olympic pipeline in Washington State will shut down for a few days is behind the rising prices.
He predicts prices in Vancouver will hit $1.60 a litre later this year.
