Demand for skilled labour

Those looking to obtain a skilled-labour job will have an opportunity to sell themselves in Penticton next week.

YMCA WorkBC Employment Services and Penticton-based Greyback Construction are hosting a free job fair on Wednesday, located at the Penticton WorkBC centre at 50 Calgary Avenue.

Staff with Greyback will be networking with job-seekers and doing interviews on site for three positions — wood framers, concrete formers and concrete finishers.

"If you are a skilled worker, have a strong desire to obtain a future in the construction field and hold a valid driver’s license, Greyback would love to meet you," WorkBC said in a news release.

Greyback earned a $12-million job as the concrete subcontractor for the Penticton Regional Hospital's new patient care tower, which will provide an estimated 80 man-years of employment upon completion.

In recent years, the company has also earned contracts on the William R. Bennett bridge, Penticton's wastewater treatment plant, South Okanagan Secondary School and the Osoyoos border crossing.

The job fair runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 28.

Further information is available by calling 1-855-770-5627.
