Ryan Shtuka left a party near Burfield Drive at Sun Peaks Resort in the early morning of Feb. 17.

That was the last time the 20-year-old man was seen.

His mother is pleading for help from the public to find her son.

“It’s overwhelming, it's unbearable to be honest,” said Heather Shtuka.

The family received a message that Shtuka vanished after the party and did not show up for his job Saturday. He has not been active on social media or cellular networks since leaving the party.

His residence was just a little over a kilometre away from the party on Burfield Drive, where he was last seen at about 2:10 a.m.

“(Search and Rescue) spent the whole day Sunday canvasing the area, using drones, snowmobiles, helicopters, 60 volunteers and dogs trying to focus on the area where he was supposed to be to where he would have ended up,” she said.

Shtuka, originally from Beaumont, Alta., moved to Sun Peaks Resort in December to work as a lift operator and was expected to stay until April.

“He came up here with his friends and was enjoying himself up here doing something he really liked to do,” she said.

Kamloops Search and Rescue called off their search Monday but family, friends and volunteers are not stopping their search.

“We are really hoping we can find something outside of what has already been searched which will engage the search and rescue team to come back,” said Shtuka.

The family is asking for residents living near Sun Peaks Resort to check their security footage from Feb. 17 after 1 a.m.

“If anybody remembers seeing him after he left the party perhaps on the way home,” she said.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-314-1800.
