Suspicious bag delays flight

A false alarm at the Comox Valley Airport delayed dozens of people Friday morning.

About 6 a.m., a suspicious package was found on board an Air Canada aircraft.

RCMP, along with military police from 19 Wing Comox, investigated the discovery.

Up to 50 people who were flying to Vancouver were delayed for three-and-a-half hours during the incident.

During the course of the investigation, a woman called the airport and said she had lost her bag on the flight the night before.

“The aircraft was searched by the RCMP, confirmed it was the lady's package, her bag with a laptop, and all is well that ends well,” said airport CEO Fred Bigelow.

The airport was back to normal operations by 9:15 a.m.
