MacDonald fights for title

Kelowna's own Rory MacDonald will step into the cage tonight for a Bellator MMA title fight.

McDonald, who trained at Toshido MMA in Kelowna, will face Douglas Lima for the world welterweight championship on Paramount TV.

The free fights feature Quinten 'Rampage' Jackson taking on Chael Sonnen in the main event.

Prelims start at 7 p.m., with the main card starting at 9 p.m.

MacDonald made his professional debut at the age of sixteen, winning against Terry Thiara, at an Extreme Fighting Challenge event.

His professional record went to 2–0, when he beat Ken Tran in the King of the Cage event.

MacDonald made us UFC debut but defeating Mike Guymon with an armbar submission after Guymon rocked him with a right hand.

MacDonald went on to defeat some of the top fighters in the UFC including 'The Prodigy' BJ Penn and Jake Ellenberger.

On August 26, 2016, MacDonald signed a contract with Bellator MMA.

In his Bellator debut, MacDonald fought Paul Daley in the main event at Bellator 179 on May 19, 2017. He won the one-sided fight via rear-naked choke in the second round.
