Outburst shocks courtroom

A profanity-laced outburst shocked a Vancouver courtroom on Thursday.

Tyler Lagimodiere is accused of stabbing a Vancouver photographer to death in Stanley Park last February.

After refusing to attend a procedural hearing into the murder of Lubo Kunik, Lagimodiere appeared shirtless by video link and swore dozens of times.

His F-bomb-laden diatribe left prosecutors and the judge speechless.

“His behavior, that language, that profanity – unbelievable,” said Vladimir Knapp, a friend of Kunik who was in the courtroom.

A sheriff muted the video feed, and when it returned, Lagimodiere said he wanted to represent himself, asking for the proceedings to be put over for 10 years.

The judge and prosecutor discussed appointing a lawyer to represent him, prompting another outburst.

Lagimodiere’s criminal record includes gun convictions, resisting arrest, threatening police officers and bail breaches.
