Golden boy Dube returns

Dillon Dube finally gets his moment in the golden spotlight.

The Kelowna Rockets forward will be honoured prior to Wednesday's game with the Lethbridge Hurricanes after captaining Canada to gold at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo earlier this month.

Dube spent much of his time after winning the gold medal laid up in bed at home in Calgary recovering from the flu.

Castanet News had a chance to speak one-on-one with Dube following the team's game-day skate.

Canada beat Sweden 3-1 in the gold medal game. Tyler Steenbergen scored the game winner late in the third before an empty net goal sealed the win and the gold.

"When we scored that third goal, the empty netter, that was the celebration, and that was ;probably the best high I have ever had in winning a game," said Dube.

After coming so close to winning gold the year before, only to lose to the U.S. in a shootout, makes this one even sweeter for Dube and the other six players who were back from the silver medal winning team.
