Penticton fire crews were called out to a cement making plant on Duncan Avenue West shortly after 8 p.m. Monday.

Lots of smoke appeared to be emanating from the facility.

Witnesses say it was nothing more than heat being injected into the sand pile to prevent it from freezing.

The procedure produced a lot of steam, but nothing more.
