Surprise honour at work

The South Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program surprised its manager today with a commemorative gift recognizing her decade of service.

Bryn White has been with the program for 11 years now, and was thrilled to be surprised at what she thought was a regular meeting.

"The years of slogging through conservation work is not the best and rewarding," White said. "It's just really a pleasure to be recognized today."

The program is a partnership of more than 50 organizations, including government, private companies and First Nations organizations, which work together to conserve biodiversity in the South Okanagan.

White was gifted a framed photo of Vaseaux Lake between Okanagan Falls and Oliver, an important area for White's conservation work.

She said she was excited to be honoured in a field where there are many deserving people.

"There's a lot of amazing people who work in conservation," White said. "This was a great surprise today."
