After a three-week break for the Christmas holidays, racers hit the slopes Thursday for the second half of the women's World Cup ski cross season.
Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa was fourth fastest today in qualifying for the first two races of the 2018 portion of the season in Idra Fjall, Sweden.
Serwa qualified in a time of one minute, 17.52 seconds, a little more than three seconds behind World Cup points leader Sandra Naeslund of Sweden.
Georgia Simmerling of Canada qualified second.
World Cup races will be held Friday and Saturday in Sweden.
In four races this season Serwa, fifth in World Cup points, has three top 10-10 finishes, including a season-opening third place finish in Val Thorens, France.
