Power restored

UPDATE: 11:40 a.m.

Fortis BC has managed to restore power to more than 2500 customers left in the dark after a vehicle struck a power pole earlier this morning on Benvoulin Road.

Traffic was backed up for several hours because of the incident and customers were without power for 3 hours.


UPDATE: 8:50 a.m.

A power pole has been knocked down at 3616 Benvoulin Road.

Castanet reader Jason Wilson tells us northbound traffic is backed up along Swamp Road past the two roundabouts. There was a 30 minute delay due to single lane traffic on Benvoulin as of 9 a.m.

More than 2500 Fortis customers have been impacted by the outage in an area that covers a wide swath of the city.

A Castanet reader has alerted the newsroom of a power pole down on Benvoulin Road.

Emergency crews are on scene and you are being advised to avoid the area if you can for the morning commute.

The incident is impacting the south bound lanes between Fisher and K.L.O. Road.

No word on whether the snow was a factor in the incident.
