Robbed, hit with golf club

A Kelowna man was allegedly assaulted by two men when he confronted them as they were breaking into his vehicle on Monday early morning.

RCMP responded to the assault that took place on Glenwood Avenue at about 2:19 a.m.

The man told police he exited his residence to find at least one man breaking into his blue Dodge Caravan.

One of the suspects struck the man in the back with a golf club, alleged the man.

“Both males fled the area of the break-in and were later tracked down by general duty officers, in the area of Grenfell Court, thanks to further calls from the public,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The victim suffered minor non-life threatening injuries.

“A Kelowna RCMP police service dog also attended the scene and aided in the recovery of physical evidence related to the crime.”

Both men from Kelowna, 25 and 33, were released from police custody.

However, the 33-year-old man faces potential charges and must abide by strict conditions. He is expected to appear in court on Feb. 7.
