3 times over the limit

A Vernon woman is expected to be charged with impaired driving – again, after a breathalyzer test found her three times over the legal limit.

Police report that the unnamed woman appeared at the Vernon detachment Wednesday afternoon to be fingerprinted over a separate impaired driving charge following a single vehicle accident on Silver Star Road last May.

“While dealing with officers inside the detachment, the officers could smell a strong odour of liquor on the woman and cautioned her not to drive her vehicle upon leaving,” said Const. Kelly Brett, RCMP spokesperson. “The woman allegedly advised she would be calling a cab, however when she left the detachment, she got into her vehicle and drove away.”

An RCMP officer in a cruiser tried to pull the vehicle over but ended up driving beside her, with lights and sirens going, in order to get her attention.

A breathalyzer at the scene recorded a fail.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to back to the detachment where she provided breath samples in excess of three times the legal limit, Brett said.

The woman, 37, was held in custody before an appearance in court today.
