Small businesses nominated

There is just one more week of voting left in the Small Business B.C. Awards, and three Penticton businesses need your support.

Duffy Baker Construction Corp. is nominated in the Premier’s People's Choice category. The company has been in operation since 2016 and employs 16 people.

It does residential and commercial construction and renovation.

“If we win, we will split the prize money between the Meals on Wheels Breakfast program and the Penticton Food Bank,” owner Koa Hughes said. “We would of course like to win the award for ourselves, but we are really invested in winning this award so that we can help those charities, which helps people in our community.”

Last year’s “Best Concept” winner, Winecrush, is nominated again under the best innovation category.

The Okanagan Cosmetology Institute in Penticton in nominated for best apprentice training.

Voting for the awards closes Nov. 30, with 10 semi-finalists from each category selected Dec. 8. Finalists are determined in February with the awards ceremony held Feb. 23.
