BCHL top tourney invitees

Several members of the BC Hockey League could get a chance to step out on the world stage.

Twenty-eight BCHL players have been invited to the Canada West tryout camp for the upcoming World Jr. A Challenge.

Of those, nearly half (12) were selected from the lague's Interior Division.

Included in that list are three players each from the Penticton Vees, Trail Smoke Eaters and Vernon Vipers along with one each from the West Kelowna Warriors, Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Merritt Centennials.

Those invited include:

  • Ty Taylor, goalie - Vernon
  • Seth Barton, defence - Trail
  • Austin Chorney, defence - Salmon Arm
  • Jack Judson, defence - Vernon
  • Ryan O'Connell, defence - Penticton
  • Luke Reid, defence - Penticton
  • Jonny Tychonic, defence - Penticton
  • Chase Stevenson, forward - West Kelowna
  • Ross Armour, forward - Trail
  • Levi Glasman, forward - Trail
  • Brett Stapley, forward - Vernon
  • Rylan Van Unen, forward - Merritt

In all, 60 players from across Western Canada have been invited to the four day selection camp which runs from Dec. 2 to 5 in Calgary.

The team will be selected from the 60 hopefuls to represent Canada West at the tournament, beginning Dec. 10 in Truro, N.S.

Canada West and East will be joined by teams from the United States, Russia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic in the six-team tournament.
