Home lights up the town

A Penticton couple have gone all out when it comes to getting in the Christmas spirit.

The pair have made their home look like it belongs at the North Pole, with about 25,000 lights.

“We usually start in September,” said Erin Kemp, homeowner. “We build a lot on our own, a lot of work goes into it.”

Many of the sculptures the pair has built by hand.

“I love Christmas,” Kemp said. “I have two young children and they absolutely love the lights.”

“I remember when I was a young child I used to go around and look at all the houses with all the lights, I just loved it.”

Each year Kemp spends about $1,000 adding more lights to the extravagant display.

“Every year I build on it and I add more and more,” she said. “It’s a little bit different each time.”

The house is located on Pineview Rd. and it isn't easy to miss. The lights are on every evening between 5 to 10 p.m.

Kemp hopes that the annual Christmas Light Tour makes a stop at her house to take in her annual display.
