Teen assaulted, ring stolen

Kelowna RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating an unusual ring.

The ring, stolen Nov. 6, belongs to a youth and has great sentimental value.

Police say the youth apparently was walking in an area near the intersection of Richter Street and Bernard Avenue when he was followed by three men.

“A short time later, the victim was approached by one of the men and assaulted in the alleyway which runs adjacent to St. Paul Street and parallel to Bernard Avenue,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“The suspect produced a knife, demanded money and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash, the victim’s transit bus pass and a white gold ring of sentimental value.”

The suspect has been described as native, between 40 and 50 years of age, rough looking, with a pock-marked face. He was wearing jeans and a red windbreaker.

The 17-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the assault.

The ring, (similar to the one pictured), is valued at about $1,200.

It's a white gold men's ring of a large skull with red garnet eyes, wearing a firefighter's helmet with the number 13.
