Big White Ski Resort has plenty of white stuff on the ground, a week out from their Nov. 23 opening.

The resort has been busy working hard to get everything ready and Michael J. Ballingall, senior vice-president of Big White Ski Resort, said almost 800 new staff have been inducted into the family.

“This is the most exciting time of year for all the newbies at Big White Ski Resort,” he said. “We’ll go through a staff induction of about 800 new staff and with this new snow on the way we are looking very good for opening our lifts Thursday morning.”

Eight centimetres fell in the past 24 hours, while 47 cm has dropped in the last seven days.

“Our alpine base is looking very, very good,” he said. “We are very confident that with the work we have done on the snow with our grooming machines that the skiing is going to be good on opening day.”

Canada Snowboard announced on Thursday that two events will take place at Big White this year.

The Big White 2018 World Para Snowboard World Cup will run Feb. 5-9, while the Sport Chek Speed Nation Snowboardcross Nationals take place March 21-26.
