Shedding light on dementia

The public will have a chance to learn more about dementia and donate to support those with the disease on Wednesday.

The Penticton location of the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. is hosting its annual coffee break fundraiser from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 25th, located at 104-35 Backstreet Boulevard.

A Facebook post said the fundraiser is a chance for the public to "support people with dementia and learn about volunteering to help out at the Alzheimer's Society."

The event will by hosted by Mary Beth Rutherford, the centre's support and education coordinator. 

Coffee and muffins will be available by donation.

An estimated 70,000 people in B.C. suffer from dementia, according to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C.
