Airliner vs rabbit in mid air

It was an unlikely incident for an airliner in flight.

A Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 struck a rabbit in mid air on Friday.

The rabbit was being carried by an eagle.

Aviation website aeroinside.com reports the flight from Melbourne to Brisbane was climbing out of Melbourne's runway 27 when the crew declared PAN (an urgent situation), reporting excessive left-hand engine vibrations.

The crew advised the tower an eagle carrying a rabbit had just impacted the engine, so they decided to return to Melbourne.

The aircraft landed safely about 17 minutes after departure.
