Spirit Ridge joining Hyatt

Hyatt Hotels announced Thursday the Spirit Ridge at Nk’Mip Resort in Osoyoos will become the first Canadian property in its Unbound Collection.

Part of the franchise agreement between Hyatt and the Spirit Ridge Owners Association will see a $5.2M renovation take place this winter to refresh the resort's suites, swimming pools, meeting rooms, restaurants and fitness centre.

“Spirit Ridge is an exciting addition to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, and we are delighted it is our first Canadian property for the brand,” said Scott Richer, vice president, real estate & development, Hyatt Canada.

“With its rich history, Hyatt guests will be able to experience the incredible historic and indigenous culture that this resort has to offer and create new stories at Spirit Ridge.”

The 10-year-old resort sits on Osoyoos Indian Band land and employs 130 people. It consists of 226 suites and villas, several pools, multiple restaurants, a winery and golf course.

The franchise agreement will go into effect in December, with the first phase of renovations expected to be completed by spring 2018.

The Hyatt Unbound Collection is billed as a “portfolio of new and existing upper-upscale and luxury properties, ranging from historic urban gems to contemporary trend-setters, boutique properties to resorts.”

The six other properties in the collection are in France, Uruguay, Florida, Arizona, Texas and Tennessee.
