Remembering Gord

Chantelle Deacon

Tragically Hip superstar, Gord Downie passed away Tuesday, after battling a brain tumour since May 2016.

He proved to have many loyal fans and clearly made an impact on those who listened to his music.

Castanet News hit the streets of Penticton to ask his die-hard fans what they will miss most about him.

"We'll miss him, his songs were legendary, he was an inspiration to the whole entire world," said a fan. "RIP, you are amazing."

Many fans highlighted how great of a musician Downie was, but for one super fan, Downie changed his life.

"I'm devastated by Gord's passing, but I was lucky enough to attend many of his shows," said Kelly Davies, super fan. "I have had the most amazing experiences that have completed my life and I will cherish all of those memories forever."

"Nothing else really matters to me anymore and I can die a happy man."

"Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss… on the lips," The Downie Family said in statement.
