UPDATE: 2:30 p.m

Heavy winds continue to wreak havoc on power lines across the Okanagan.

Two large trees have come down on top of a home at 335 McCurdy Road, taking out a power line in the process. Emergency crews are responding to the house, but they are unsure if anyone was inside when the trees came down.

A stretch of McCurdy Road has been closed due to the downed trees and power lines.

Additionally, crews are responding to downed phone lines near 2515 Longhill Road, a tree across power lines at 240 McCurdy Road, downed lines near McGowan Road and Amundsen Road in Lake Country and lines down near Leathead Road and McPhee Street.

UPDATE: 2:10 p.m

A resident living in Peachland said residents are not allowed back into their home unless it's an emergency after a tree fell on power lines.

A large tree fell on the road near Ehlers Road and Victoria Street at about noon.

"The power lines are down and lying on fences," said Chad Brigden.

He was told residents are allowed to leave but no traffic is being let in.

Firefighters are on scene blocking the road but no other crews are on site.
