Lind earns WHL POW

Kelowna Rockets forward Kole Lind has been named the On The Run Western Hockey League Player of the Week.

Lind had about as good a start offensively as one could have to begin a season.

The 18-year-old Shaunavon, Sask. native scored three times and added five assists in a pair of weekend wins over the Kamloops Blazers.

Lind had a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win to open the season, then followed that up with a five point night in a 5-1 win in Kamloops the following night.

He has had a hand in eight of the 11 goals the team has scored to date.

Last season, Lind set career highs in goals (30), assists (57) and points (87).

In June, he was a second round selection of the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL entry draft, going 33rd overall.

Lind will be back in action with his Rocket teammates Friday night when the Rockets entertain the Everett Silvertips at Prospera Place.
