Hold & secure at school

Armstrong's high school went into a hold and secure situation around 2 p.m. Monday after reports of a pellet gun in the parking lot.

The measure at Pleasant Valley Secondary School was taken "as a precautionary measure," said an official for School District 83. RCMP were notified.

"Hold and secure occurs when there’s a threat in the general vicinity of the school," said Alice Hucul, district spokesperson. "As part of our hold and secure protocol, students and staff were brought inside, all doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building."

Hucul said classes went on as normal but the high school remained secured for 45 minutes, until police advised it was safe to lift the measure.
