Shooting witnesses sought

Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses to a targeted shooting of a known gangster.

On Sept. 21, Konaam Shirzad, 34, was gunned down on Hudson's Bay Trail at 7:20 p.m.

An unidentified 28-yer-old man was injured in the shooting.

Shirzad co-founded the Red Scorpions in the mid-2000s in the Lower Mainland.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said police are specifically looking to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dash camera video footage that covers any part of Summit Drive during the period of 5-9 p.m. on Sept. 21.

“If you have any such video please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828- 3000. If you have any other information about the shooting please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828- 3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8277,” said Shelkie.

Jonathan Bacon, a prominent Red Scorpion, was killed in a high-profile mid-day shooting in Kelowna in August 2011. The trial for the three men accused in that murder has been ongoing in Kelowna Supreme Court since May.
