A fifty-nine-year-old Grand Forks man has died as a result of a fatal collision on Hwy 3 on Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the single vehicle incident about 15 kilometres west of Grand Forks at about 10:40 a.m., arriving to find an eastbound 2000 Ford Windstar had crossed the centre line and driven into the north ditch.
The driver was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The passenger, a 56-year-old Grand Forks woman is being treated for serious injuries at Boundary Hospital.
The crash resulted in the closure of the highway for several hours.
RCMP investigators are working in conjunction with the BC Coroner's Service to determine the cause of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP West Kootenay Traffic Services at 250-354-5180.
