Best wedding cake in B.C.

Did you see that the Whisk Cake Company has doubled in size? 

I’m not surprised. When you win the Best Wedding Cake in B.C., you just expect it.

Obviously, owner Tanya Garratt specializes in wedding cakes, but she is also known for her detailed, hand-sculpted, celebration cakes too. 

The bigger locations now has ice cream, waffle cones and she offers cake classes of all kinds.

Tanya is a member of the Canadian Cake Decorators Guild and the Baking Association of Canada. 

She is a Red Seal chef that took her around the world, but it was a job in a bakery that she realized her true calling.

Speaking of wonderful things, did you see that Freshii has opened up at the new Kelowna Airport Plaza? 

Philip Patara is bringing this franchise to Kelowna and they will be offering fresh food that is made in house every day.  

Freshii was created by fashion designer Oscar de la Renta because he loved the mom-and-pop shops with their fresh dishes, but they didn’t have the proper branding and service.

The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Okanagan Centre (RASCOC) invites the public to join them to observe the Aug. 21 partial solar eclipse from the Kelowna Curling Club from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

RASCOC will have approved solar eclipse glasses and a number of special solar telescopes to allow safe observing of the sun, and to see sunspots on the solar surface and bright, red prominences around the edge.

I am going to be there because I have been told my whole life not to look at the sun, but who knew they had special glasses/ 
 

The new Porsche dealership owned by Wayne Wyant is almost complete. 

It's finished enough to host the 100 men who give a damn this past week though.

The Wyant Group operates 17 dealerships across Western B.C . They obviously know what they are doing.

The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce and the Kelowna Kasugai Agricultural Expo have teamed up to bring you Commerce Connex on Wednesday. 

This event is from 3-7 p.m. at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.
