Female cyclist attacked

Police on Vancouver Island have made an arrest in a chilling incident in which a woman was approached by a knife-wielding man.

On Friday morning, a man allegedly blocked the Galloping Goose trail and then confronted a cyclist.

The cyclist was on the trail near Burnside Road about 8:45 a.m. when she came across a log that looked like it was purposely placed across the path.

According to police, when the woman tried to move the log, a man leapt out from the bushes while brandishing a knife.

The woman fled the scene unhurt before calling police, who arrested the man.

Police say they’re investigating whether the suspect was the same man who was reportedly throwing rocks at passing cyclists on the trail Friday morning.
