Campers refuse to douse fire

Residents living near Kathy Lake in the North Okanagan are incensed after campers became belligerent when told to put out their campfire.

It all happened Friday night, when local residents confronted the campers and told them a fire ban was in place and they must extinguish their campfire.

The campers, who were in a vehicle bearing Alberta plates, acted aggressively toward the local residents with one saying they would “burn every corner of the province.”

Police and BC Wildfire Service were notified, but there is no word on what, if any, action was taken by authorities.

The conflict prompted a lengthy discussion on Facebook, but the thread has since been deleted.
