One-way streets downtown

One-way driving is now in effect on 28th and 29th avenues in Vernon.

“Please watch for the red and white 'No Entry' signs and the 'One Way' arrows showing the direction that drivers will have to travel,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, with the city.

On July 24, 11 parking stalls were moved from 30 Street to 28 Avenue and 29 Avenue. To ensure drivers can access the angled parking, these streets were designated as one-way traffic.

“Pedestrians crossing these streets will benefit from shorter crosswalks and by having traffic approaching from only one side,” said Laing Gahr.

“The Pay & Display multi-space stations are due to be installed mid to late August. Until that time, temporary two-hour parking signs will be installed for the angled parking.”
