Ultra triathlete Shanda Hill of Vernon is taking on her toughest challenge yet.
Hill is heading for Buchs, Switzerland for the Deca Ultratriathlon Continuous – a race that is the equivalent of 10 Ironman triathlons.
Covering a total distance of 2,260 kilometres, the athletes have 345 hours or 14.4 days in which to complete the race.
The Deca takes place Aug. 16-31.
Hill, 35, raced the Quintuple Anvil last year in Virginia, a race half the distance of the Deca, and became the first Canadian female to take part, finishing in first place for woman and fifth overall.
The Deca includes a 38 km swim, 1,800 km bike and 422 km run.
Two other women are among just 16 athletes competing in the Swiss Ultra Deca, according to the official website.
