Summerland Yacht club is preparing for their Giant's Head Regatta, part of the annual Okanagan Race Week. 

The three day regatta will be a highlight of Okanagan Race Week and features live music, sparkling wine and rum tasting, dancing and most importantly sailboat racing, from Aug. 11 to 13. 

"We will have a live band made up of mostly sailors called The McKinley Band," said fleet captain Gerard Obbema. "The fun will be lasting all week between here and Kelowna." 

On average, Summerland sees about 130 participants but they are always looking for more. 

People get nervous because it's a race, but it's really just "a lot of fun," and everyone is welcome to get involved. 

Okanagan Race Week is from Aug. 8 to 16, with events happening almost everyday.
