The public is asked not be alarmed if they hear gunfire on the DND grounds this summer.
Cadets at the Vernon Cadet Training Centre will be firing blank rounds this summer – and the public is being asked not be be alarmed.
The cadets will be participating in ceremonial drills through August. The practice and ceremonies will entail small arms handling and the firing of blanks on the Dieppe parade square at the DND grounds some mornings and evenings.
“The Vernon Cadet Training Centre would like to make the public aware to avoid alarm if they hear blank ammunition being fired.”
The dates include:
- July 25 - 8:30-10 a.m.
- July 26 - 8:30-10 a.m.
- July 27 - 8:30-10 a.m.
- July 28 - 8:30-10 a.m.
- Aug. 1 - 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 2 - 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 4 - 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 8 - 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 10 – 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 11 – 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 14 – 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 15 – 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 16 – 6:30-8 p.m.
- Aug. 17 – 6:30-8 p.m.
The cadet program is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who participate in a variety of activities while learning about the sea, army and air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.
