Northern Pikes rock out

The Northern Pikes put on a special show in Jim Stuart Park as part of celebrating Canada’s Sesquicentennial year.

Kelowna native Kevin Kane from “The Grapes of Wrath” joined the multi-juno nominees during the free concert from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday.

“I think many folks in Kelowna will be reliving their youth with ‘The Northern Pikes’ and singing along to the hits,” said Renata Mills, Executive Director for Festivals Kelowna.

Strong gusts of winds caused some equipment to fall on the stage, but the band members didn’t let it ruin their night.

“I don’t think I’ve had a better view than I can think of,” said Jay Semko Singer, The Northern Pikes.

Semko added he’d like to return to Kelowna for a trip to relax and unwind.

Bryan Potvin guitarist, said he is planning on performing in every province this year for Canada’s 150.

Hit singles like Teenland, She Ain’t Pretty and Things I Do For Money were performed on Sunday night all of which rocketed the Saskatchewan rockers into stardom.

“It’s really nice that people are still digging it and still hanging out and wanting to listen to our music,” said Semko.
