Firefighters welcome returning evacuees in Cache Creek.

As residents continue to return home in the Cache Creek area, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District downgraded several more evacuation orders Thursday night.

Evac orders along the Highway 97 corridor were revised to evacuation alerts for the Clinton corridor, in the Bonaparte Plateau, Electoral Area E and Blue Sky Country, Electoral Area I areas.

All properties west of Highway 97 that were previously on order are now on alert.

Properties immediately bordering the east side of Highway 97 previously on order are also now alert, however several evacuation orders further east of the highway remain in effect.

Highway 97 is now open for returning evacuees from the Southern boundary of Bonaparte Indian Reserve up to and including the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 24.

The affected areas include Cache Creek North, east of Clinton, Hihium Lake and Loon Lake.
