Flight diverted to Kelowna

An Air Canada airliner made an unscheduled landing at Kelowna International Airport Wednesday after passengers reported hearing strange noises.

Flight 8570 diverted shortly after take off from Vancouver International Airport, en route to Regina.

The crew of the de Havilland Dash 8-400 twin-turboprop decided to land for a mechanical inspection as a precaution.

One passenger reported "unsettling rattling noises" on Twitter.

The airline said in an email: "Passengers were not at risk. No emergency was declared.... We sincerely apologize to our passengers for inconvenience to their travel plans. Safety is always our top priority."

Passengers remained on board at YLW during the inspection, and the plane resumed its flight.
