A car was engulfed in flames along Highway 97 north of Monte Creek just after 3:30 p.m.

Bystanders say the woman driving the vehicle was on her way to pick up her son, but left the vehicle on the side of the road before it caught on fire. 

No one was in the vehicle when it caught fire. 

Police on scene are unsure of the cause at this point.
