Rockets dominant again

Much like game one, the Kelowna Rockets were by far the better team in game four of their best-of-seven first round series with the Kamloops Blazers.

Unlike the game one 4-0 win, the Rockets had to sweat this one to the bitter end.

Dillon Dube scored the only goal and Michael Herringer made 24 saves in a 1-0 win Wednesday in Kamloops.

The Rockets now lead the series three games to one.

Herringer wasn't very busy over the opening 40 minutes, but he did have to make one key stop off Dallas Valentine in the first to keep it scoreless.

It was one of just 14 shots he faced over the first 40 minutes.

Despite the light workload, it appeared as if the Blazers had opened the scoring on a first period power play. Collin Shirley beat Herringer from the right faceoff circle, but, it was waived off when Nick Chyzowski was deemed to have made incidental contact with Herringer in the crease before the puck crossed the line.

The game stayed scoreless until early in the second.

Dube grabbed a loose puck behind the Kamloops net. He circled towards the right faceoff circle, lost the puck briefly, then tapped it to Carsen Twarynski.

Twarynski returned the puck to Dube who had cut into the slot and sent a wrist shot high past Connor Ingram on the glove side.

It was the only puck that would beat the Kamloops netminder, who made several outstanding saves to keep the Blazers in the game.

Kamloops pushed over the latter half of the third period, but, despite numerous good chances in close, were unable to beat Herringer.

The Rockets outshot Kamloops 49-24 on the night.

Kelowna also found themselves in penalty trouble yet again. They were forced to kill off seven minor penalties over the course of the night.

The Rockets were held off the scoresheet on their three power play chances.

Kelowna can wrap up the series Friday night when they host game five at Prospera Place.
