Flooding on Glenrosa

UPDATE: 11:40 p.m.

There are multiple reports that homes in the Glenrosa Road and Gates Road area are dealing with flooding issues.

A Castanet viewer said two homes have experienced flooding on Landsbury Way in West Kelowna.

"The worst home has about three-to-four feet of water in the basement and about 18 inches in the back yard," said John Turner.

Turner said workers have been coming to the homes all night, but have had little success in solving the issue.

"Now at 11:30 p.m. they are still trying to stop the water from filling homes," he said.

ORIGINAL: 10 p.m.

A section of Glenrosa Road is flooded after a nearby ditch filled with water and spilled onto the road.

Firefighters arrived on scene to the location near Gates Road around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday to work on the flood.

A backhoe was brought in to clean the mud and gravel off the road and fire crews were working to clear the road with shovels.

The snow melting mixed with rain is the believed cause of the flood.

Glenrosa Road is down to single-lane traffic in the area for the time being.
