Police have confirmed the death of a man whose body was found on the side of the road last week was a murder.
“RCMP investigators can confirm that the death of 26-year-old Dustin Josef Rogers is a homicide. Rogers resided in Vernon,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
Last Thursday (Mar. 23) at 7:24 a.m., police were called to a report of a body found near the intersection of Wilson Jackson Road and Jordashe Road on the way up Silver Star Mountain.
Moskaluk said police are continuing their investigation into the man's death and are piecing together a timeline of Roger's activities on the days prior to his body being discovered.
Police have not said if they suspect the murder was targeted or how Rogers was killed. However, unconfirmed sources say Rogers was shot.
Photos on Facebook show Rogers with a large Independent Soldiers tattoo on his torso.
The Independent Soldiers are a B.C.-based criminal gang with mainly Indo-Canadian leadership and alleged links to the Hells Angels.
