Chamber's certified service

It's an issue of trust.

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is launching a new program aimed at helping members of the chamber show their commitment to the community and high customer service standards.

The program allows those members of the chamber who agree to abide by a code of conduct to access marketing material that conveys that they are 'Chamber Certified'.

“Extensive research has shown that people are more likely to frequent a business when they know they are involved in their local chamber,” said Dan Rogers, chamber general manager. “Now we are giving those members who agree to the code of conduct additional tools to help show their civic pride.”

The code of conduct includes an agreement to conduct business in an honourable manner and calls on each participating member to agree to lend a hand to help promote the community and lend their expertise wherever possible.

The Chamber Certified marketing tool kit includes a bright window cling and a table top tent that consumers can look for when they are shopping local.

Electronic images have also been developed for business websites and for electronic communication.

“Certainly shopping local is important but that is not the primary reason for launching this program. We know through research that consumers feel they can trust chamber members and thus we are making it easier for our members to communicate that fact to their customers.”

The program is open to any member of the chamber of commerce.
