Kelowna Actors Studio, Wards Hard Apple Cider & New Country 100.7 present the family classic: Anne Of Green Gables - The Musical

Now in its Guinness Record-setting 52nd season at Charlottetown’s Confederation Arts Centre, Prince Edward Island, the original Anne musical is a Canadian classic in every sense of the word. Based on L.M. Montgomery's beloved novel, the musical adaptation of the story of an imaginative red-haired orphan searching for belonging is guaranteed to tug at you heartstrings and tickle your funny bone.

A true family classic, Anne of Green Gables, The Musical is based on the story by Lucy Maude Montgomery with a Book by Don Harron. Lyrics by Don Harron and Norman Campbell. Additional Lyrics By Mavor Moore and Elaine Campbell.

Captivating readers for over a century, Lucy Maud Montgomery’s treasured, best-selling novel is transformed into this charming musical. When the Cuthbert's expect to adopt a boy, imagine their surprise when a talkative and clever young girl steps off the train in Avonlea. Witness Anne's transformation from a playful young girl to a confident young woman as she finds her way into the hearts of everyone she meets—despite a knack for getting into trouble! Set to an unforgettably beautiful score, this is an enduring story for all ages.

Kelowna Actors Studio is excited to announce the cast of this bright, inspiring musical.

Taking centre stage, the charismatic Kate Hammer champions the role of the precocious Anne Shirley. With over 20 Actors Studio credits including Mary Poppins (Jane), West Side Story (Anybodys), Freckleface Strawberry - The Musical (Freckleface) and Les Miserables (Little Cosette/Little Eponine).  She is a true triple threat and still finds time to stage manage and assistant teach for the Kelowna Actors Studio Academy.

Critically acclaimed actress Norene Morrow is set to play Marilla Cuthbert. Morrow received rave reviews for her role of Golde in Fiddler On The Roof and for Lady Beaconsfield in Jekyll & Hyde - The Musical.  Mrs. Morrow is also a musical director having worked on this past seasons very successful Rocky Horror Show.

Tiernan Lafleur-Johnson returns to Kelowna Actors Studio in the role of Gilbert Blythe. Another triple threat, you would have seen Mr. Johnson in all shows this season including The Rocky Horror Show,  A Christmas Story and Chicago to name but a few. Past performances are Mary Poppins (Neleus), All Shook Up (Dean Hyde), Jesus Christ Superstar (Simon) and Freckleface Strawberry (Danny).

Ron Green returns to the mainstage to take on the role of Anne’s loving, adoptive father, Matthew Cuthbert. Ron was last seen in A  Christmas Story (Jean),  August Osage County (Charlie Aiken) and The Addams Family (Uncle Fester).

Julia Chambers is kindred spirit, Diana Barry. Julia was last seen in Mary Poppins (Annie) and West Side Story (Maria). She studies classical music and is a part of the chamber group Candesca and has performed in Opera Kelowna’s The Marriage of Figaro and the Magic Flute.  Julia will be joining the Kelowna Actors Studio Academy next year.

Maia Terran returns to the Kelowna Actors Studio stage after a brief absence over seas. Our Audiences will remember her as Princess Fiona in Shrek - The Musical. Maia will be portraying Mrs. Pye and Miss Stacey.

Karlisa Hiebert plays Rachel Lynde. Karlisa was last seen as Fantine in Les Miserables as well as portraying Eponine in the North American Touring Company of Les Miserables.

Janice Sorestad portrays Mrs. Barry.  Janice is an audience favourite having portrayed many dramatic and comedic roles in such shows as All Shook Up (Mayor Matilda Hyde), Catch Me If You Can-The Musical (Carol Strong), The Addams Family-The Musical, (Grandma Addams), Company (Joanne) and many more.

Anne of Green Gables - The Musical plays April 19 thru May 7.

Performances run Wednesday to Sunday with a Saturday Matinee. Tickets are available including a 3-course plated dinner, dessert (matinee only) or as show only.
