Pinned by vehicles

A man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with serious injuries on Tuesday after a crash on 31st Avenue, near 34th Street.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at 11:33 a.m. and found the elderly man pinned between the two vehicles.

“He was at the back of his parked pickup truck and was pinned by another vehicle,” said Captain Doug Imrich of Vernon Fire Rescue. “He has serious lower body injuries.”

The pickup appeared to have been hit so hard that part of the front end had gone up onto the sidewalk.

Blood could be seen on the ground behind the truck and on the damaged bumper of the car.

Police blocked off the street and were seen talking to witnesses.

The RCMP said later that officers had spoken with the driver of the car but no charges had been laid yet and the investigation was ongoing.
